A project of cloning Vyapar, an accounting app.

Deadline of four days.

A team of four.

The Journey

This time, some of us were divided into groups of four and ours was one of them. Each group was asked to dynamically clone a money manager/accounting app. We got the app, Vyapar, an app that is used to manage accounts and inventory for any type of business. All of us connected on a call and planned what should be done to give it the needed functionalities.

The Challenge

The new unit brought new challenges and this unit’s challenge came in the form of creating our own database. While creating it was handled by one of us, all of us implemented on storing and retrieving data from it. Every expense we add was getting dynamically updated on the screen just like the original app. This was our main feature along with the feature of changing the language to Hindi and sharing the expense details to anyone using intent filters.

The Presentation

We knew that we made a compelling app and if we present it well, we’d make it to the top 5. So we worked on our flow and tone for a lot of time. We also were given a chance to record it multiple times till we’re satisfied. So that gave us an edge and also time to practice. We had a couple of dry runs again for the final competition and with that, we gave a very crisp and confident presentation. We got the second position and I got some good compliments for my presentation. This was definitely a very fruitful experience. Hoping for more such opportunities in the coming units.
